Default New from N.S.

..........I've been reading this forum for a while and thought it about time that I joined and introduced myself.
I've had many different hobbies over the years and one of them led me here (indirectly) It was while I was inquireing about carving powderhorns that a member of a different forum mentioned "Little Shavers".............well one thing led to another.................I have now ordered my "Beginners Kit" and my "Beginners Handbook on Wood Carving"................Am I in danger of becoming addicted?............
I plan to do a lot more reading and inquiring.................so be prepared for some DUMB questions

Yep, you are in danger of becoming addicted. I tell those that express an interest in woodcarving....."the only things more addictive than woodcarving are hard drugs!"

Welcome to the Forum Soggy, and welcome to a hobby that sounds like it will go right along with your others.

As Paul stated carving is addictive and is'nt any cure. Welcome aboard and if you don't ask questions you won't learn as there carvers on this board that know their business. As mw what I really know and will pass it on to you, go to Wally World and buy the biggest case of bandaids you can get, gallon of alchol ad iodine, then start carving.

Hi Wayne/Soggy,

Welcome. You're definitely in danger. Carving is not good for my health but I can't stop. I'm taking it slow but I'm not going to quit till I can't carve anymore.

...Thanks for the warm welcome guys and gals, I'm relieved to know that there is no cure for this addition, ...I guess I'll just have to try and live with it the best I can
Mottles: I'll try and post a picture of a horn that I completed this past winter (Hopefully this will work.........I'm not very computer savvy)
new-n-s-feb-17-006.jpg
Looks like it worked.................... This was a "regular" cow horn and is about 13" long by 2-3/4" in diameter. The large end is plugged with a piece of curley maple, I have since attached a strap which I wove on my inkle loom (another hobby )
