Thumbs up New to Messaging - not to Woodcrafting

Hello,

I just recently joined this organization, it's great to be associated with other people who love working with wood!

What a blessing!

I have a question - what do you do with your "sawdust"?

Thanks,

Michael

Goes into my fireplace otherwise I would think you could put it out like you do with leaves or grass clippings in the cities. Also welcome to the Board Cheers.

Hey Michael,
Welcome to the board. Bunch of great, helpful and inspirational people here.
I have a good friend who has a firepit in his back yard. I have a big bag of woodchips to give him for the spring. But you just gave me a great idea. I think I'll save my sawdust, (which there's not a whole lot of), to throw at the fire. I've done it before. It makes a nice plume of sparks and flame. Very interesting to see. If anyone plans to mimic this, Beware!! this can be hazardous. Make sure you're outside and there isn't too much wind or flamables around. Also, only throw a small amount at a time. Ok, safety lecture done. It's funny, before I give him his regular gift, I'm going to give him the bag of wood chips with a bow on top, lol.

Hi, and welcome. I don't have any sawdust but my chips go in the compost pile.

Hey, Slomo, did you know that Oklahoma used to be mountainous.....it just blew flat!

Hi, I usually compost the chips and sawdust. Or put it in a bag to start a fire in the wood stove.
