Default New Member - New Carver

Hi, This is a learning experience for me & I only have access to a computer here at work, so please bear with me!

Am very much a novice carver, am currently working on a near life size Great Dane carousel dog, and have been going to the carousel carving school in TN. So far I am working on the head & legs, and am encouraged that people look at the head & know what it is I'll be going back to the school in about three weeks for a couple more days of instruction & wisdom.

This looks like a great group so I'm looking forward to meeting more carvers and learning new stuff!

Welcome Danelove. There is a Welcome Members forum you can post in where more people will see your hello. I'd like to see photos of your carousel dog when you get a chance.

Hi Kitaye,

Thanks for the heads up - like I said - I'm new at this stuff & after I'd done the post I realized it was in the wrong place - oh well, learning experience!

I'll redo it & hopefully it'll get in the right spot!

I also have to learn about using digital cameras, etc so I can put some pictures up, I'm really excited about this dog, its quite an undertaking & Bud the teacher sometimes just shakes his head at me, but we have fun!

I'll be using my lunchtimes to look at all the info that's here, & learning about everybody.

Thanks again.

Welcome Dan, and lucky lucky you..... I have visited Soddy Daisy and the carosel school run by Bud Ellis. I would love to spend a week in the school. I hope Bud is well. I just saw a piece on him on DIY tv a couple of months ago. How far do you have to go to get there? Do you live nearby?

We are planning to move up that way in the next year or two and hope to get to the school for some classes then.
