Hi Susieq,

I live in central VA, so it takes me about 7 - 8 hours to get to Bud's school. He is doing well, they are super busy with the carousel they are building for the zoo, it was inspiring to be able to work amongst all the animals they have done for it. I'm going back down there for three days in 2 1/2 weeks, we're going to make my dog's body. Wish it was closer for me, but its not too bad a drive as long as the traffic behaves. If you can find a way to go, do so, he may not be around forever & he's such a wonderful guy! The art of carousel carving must not be lost, that's why I want to learn the entire process from scratch, he is a very good teacher. Some day if I learn how to use a digital camera I would love to post some pictures of this dog! This group looks like quite a great outfit from all the welcomes I've gotten, can't wait til lunchtime so I can look around some more - I tell you, this having to work for a living is the pits! Speaking of work I better get to it - you all have a great day!

Janet

Hi Janet,
Do you have Bud's book on carving carosel animals? The next time you go over there, take an hour and a half to run the extra few miles into Chattanooga and ride the carosel that the Soddy Daisy group carved all the animals for..... It was an antique carosel that had been abandoned and all the original animals taken off and sold. The park restored the carosel and the school carved over 50 animals to put on it.....carved them in two years time!! We had been staying in Chattanooga before heading out to Bud's place. Didn't know about the park. After the visit at the school, we drove back to Chattanooga and found the park. The four of us all rode the carosel several times. My favorite piece is a leaping tiger with claws outstretched. He is in the book. It cost one dollar per ride....
