Mikkel, I really like your work on the spoons. Could you tell me what kind of tool you use to get the cup shape to the spoons. Whatever you are using seems to be working well. |

I have a couple of different tools for the job. Mostly I use a gouge. I have a small 10mm onr and a wider 25mm gouge (Pfeil). I use the bent gouges. Like these --> Pfeil® Sculptor?s Gouges, long cranked | DICK GmbH - Fine Tools I also have a small hook knife (By Svante Djärv) and a larger hook knife (Frost). I put a 30cm handle om the frost knife, to get a better grip on the tool. For the initial hollowing I use either the long handled hook knife or the small gouge. For finishing I use the wide gouge. ... and no sandpaper ;-) Also you should try not to make the bowl too narrow. It will be hard to get the tools to follow the curve of the bowl. I will post a picture later this evening, when I get home. Last edited by Mikkel Frederiksen; 03-24-2010 at 08:46 AM. Reason: ...more explaining... |
