Smile Re: New Member From Connecticut

To All,
Thanks everyone for all that replied, I'm dealing with the sudden snow storm after we had 60 & 70 degree weather, what a surprise. I'm literally starting from scratch and have to repurchase my carving chisels and thought about relief carving and some whittling such as the old seasalts that I would like to create. Are there any plans available on the net for this type of characters and what are the basic chisels needed for relief carving for beginners. Finally I'm new to posting and maybe I should be posting this thread in another section.

Lou, Welcome aboard!
I am also a newcomer here also. And as you see you have joined a great group of people. I have been on for only a couple of days and recieved nothing but positive remarks. I live in Torrinton CT and in the process of trying to start a Woodcarving Club. I really hope it works. Where in CT are you from and what type of carving 's do you do?
Again Welcome aboard and Keep those chips a flying!!!

Lou, I'm in Connecticut myself and am involved in several clubs and would be happy to share some information on upcoming events and some carving clubs.

Thanks,Santagibbs,ozer59, and Warren in CT Valley, I'm located in monroe and I haven't started any carving yet, have repurchase my tools and thought of relief carving and whittling. Hope to start soon and and getting idea's from the many postings from this site. I will have a lot more time in about a year when I retire. Incidently, loucycls is not a Harley, but a mountain, road bike and soon, a long wheel base recumbent Bike. Steve, the formation of a woodcarving club sounds like a great idea and would be a benefit for all members, especially for beginners. I would be interested.

Lou,
There is no need for any thanks. We are all here for the same thing. To enjoy are talents to the extreme and to help those in need (like me). I am in need of a lot of help... My Dad has helped me alot he has been carving for about 40 years and has a lot of stuff. In about a month or so I will be going camping every weekend in MA,. Enjoying my carving on my deck watching the campfire. But the woodcarving club is still in the works. Getting all the material together needed for the club to be effective. So our butts are covered in every way..
If there is anything I can help you with email me at phwoodcarvers@optonline.net
Thanks and welcome aboard!
