Hi
My name is Dee Gipson. I live in the south east corner of Texas and I carve birds & animals. I like to be in the outdoors and watch nature. I'm loking forward to talking to and seeing what other carvers are doing.

Welcome aboard Dee. Some great birds down your way, nice to hear someone enjoys watching them. Harris Hawk is my favorite, they live in your neck of the woods, don't they? Or should I say, desert? Hope we get to see some of your work in the future.

Bob

Thanks Bob
Not sure about the Harris hawk in this area. We live in the corner nest to Louisianiaand we have alot of Pine trees, Oaks & other types of trees. Have seen a the Red-tailed, the Swallow-tailed Kite & one other yet to identify.
We have a lot of water around us and the ducks come through hear but I do not hunt so I have to look up the duck I want to carve. We have a number of goo Bass fishing places that are close by and free to fish in.
I will be posting some photos soon. Please let me knoe what you think.
Dee

I just came on to check my messages for a moment .. and I saw your name Dee ..

How are you old friend ? .. How are you doing ? ... It's so good to hear from you again .. I hope you and your wife are well and I know your enjoying retirement ..

Now give me a minute to introduce you to this great board of men and women who are on this board ..

I personally know Dee from my once woodcarving club down here .. I have set with him at carving shows locally and let me tell you .. He might be a new member .. but he is no amateur to woodcarving ...

Dee is one of the finest carvers I have ever met when it comes to animals and birds .. His bird carvings are beautiful and down to the detail and quite amazing to see in person ..

Dee is a instructor with the Texas Woodcarvers Guild most every year with his great projects and what I have heard from anyone who has attended one .. is one great instructor ..

Besides that ,, he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and his knowledge of carving is something to listen to ..

He always was willing to help us in our club and was just a great teacher ..

Dee .. I for one welcome you to this forum and believe me folks if we can help him figure out how to post some pics of his work .. You will all know what Iam talking about concerning his work ..

there is a special section for birds and animals and please , please , join in with your knowledege and pics ..

I know you travel alot teaching .. but sharing with us would be a pleasure ..

Now that I have taken up enough of your time .. Let me finish with ...Dee .. Iam so glad your with us and what a help your be to anyone whio carves ..

this is a great board of guys and and gals to get to know and I know you would fit right in ..

Good to hear from you old friend ..

Gene

Welcome aboard Dee,great introduction of you by Gene. I am eagearly waiting to see some of your carvings as I to am "wanna be" birds of prey carver and when I'm not carving birds I carve animals mostly predators. Boy now I can plea, bargain and ask some one else for bird carving help. As Gene mentioned there are great carvers on the board.

Hello Dee and a hearty welcome. What a great introduction to you by Gene. It makes me appreciate the existing talent here at WCI board and the "new" ones joining everyday. I'm sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for your photos. There's nothing like seeing great carvings to inspire, even if it is through pics.

Thanks.

P.S. I drove through that area one year coming from Louisiana and going to Houston, took the long scenic way.

Wow, Dee! Those are great carvings. It's no wonder that you're teaching others to carve. Your students are fortunate to have you.

Thank you.
