Welcome Teal, I love those old style decoys. I find the site extremely helpful with lots of knowledgeable people to answer questions. Hope you enjoy.

My wife and I own a small Bed & Breakfast in New Braunfels just south of Austin. Beore that we lived in Rockport for about 30 years where I was involved in everything rom commercial fishing, duck hunting, to working at the research lab at Port Aransas for a number of years. It's been a good ride. I often think that if I had been into kayaking while I was on the coast I wouldn't have had time for work. Don't be afraid to try out a kayak. Some people like the open waters of the gulf but the real beauty of these boats are in the back bays where you fell like a part of the environment rather than an intruder.

Thanks for all the welcoming remarks from everybody. We definitely have cottenwoods growing in the area but I don't know if antbody is harvesting bark. You do know that the name Alamo means cottenwood in Spanish. Maybe the defenders had time for a little carving while they were under seige.
