Hello to everyone,

I am new to carving but I really find it very satisfying. I have been carving old style shorebird decoys and painting in oils. Since we don't have much carving tradition in central Texas I get most of my inspiration from books and pictures on the internet and I am learning to paint by trial & error. I look forward to viewing this site on a regular basis. I am currently 63, love to fish from my sit-on-top kayak on the Texas coast, and go to kidney dialysis 3 times per week.

Have a great day, teal

Welcome aboard Teal. Lots of good bird carvers here , you should have no trouble getting questions answered or topics discussed.

Actually, there are quite a few carvers in Texas and some good Carving shows...you need to start searching google and if you are close to a woodcraft or woodcarving supply, they can tell you about carving clubs.

Teal, you live an active life! I am glad you joined in. I look forward to seeing your work. a picture of yourself kayaking along the coast! I go fishing in a 21' kenner but don't think I am brave enough to go out in a kayak!
