hi... very very novice member... have done 2(two) wood spirits... My husband says they are good.??.. lol oh well... I'm looking into starting some relief carving... A friend put me onto Pfeil tools and I'm glad he did...since I've read up on sharpening they cut like "knife thru butter" now... I have used Cottonwood Bark and tried a couple of small things in basswood... we have Cottonwood trees dropping their bark all over our property so will not run out.. lol... but hope to try all different kinds of wood...altho where i live there is not much variety... hope to learn more about what kind of wood to try and what's available around here...I know only 1 carver and he lives 1 1/2 hrs away... I live in the middle of nowhere in BC Canada and have LOTS of time for carving and fishing... I'm doing lots of reading and have gotten a few books, will probably have lots of questions for you but none at the moment... Just going thru the site and seeing what I can learn from the posts already on the board... hope to talk to you again soon...

Welcome aboard Stryder7. Carving is a wonderful way to relax and express yourself. With lots of wood around you, it sounds like you have the perfect setup! Enjoy.

Greetings and Salutations! Nothing to do but carving and fishing! Was that B.C. or Heaven that you said you lived at? You've got us all envious!

Welcome Stryder7. Lots of good folks here, and lots of help if needed. You say you have lots of time for fishing and carving. Now that has a nice ring to it...Tom H
