Default new here ::waves:: very excited!

Hi all, I am a woodcarving wanna-be; I currently do gourd art - gourds are my passion - and over time and in learning all the different techniques have decided that relief and power carving are really what I like the best, so wanting to improve on that has led me here. And who knows, maybe I will switch canvases someday and try real wood!

Yesterday I ordered 4 books that I am SO anxious to get so I can start learning! I downloaded the tutorial and just have to figure out how to get started. I currently use a Dremel and flex shaft but have a lot of the x-acto knives and other tools. I also have some very thick gourds (much better than what we can grow in Iowa) that will be perfect to use.

Thanks so much to all of you who share your knowledge!

Mornin Josey,

You will be able to attain greatert detail with harder or denser materials...but, relief carving is basically the same...no matter the medium. Have fun!
