I'd like to introduce my self. I've been carving for about five years but I'm just now setting out to meet the community, as it were.

Welcome Dylan! Being fairly new myself, I have already gained a wealth of knowledge from these fine woodcarvers on this message board. You will find that everyone goes out of their way to help answer questions and give advice in every aspect of woodcarving. All you have to do is ask!!

Hi Dylan, welcome to WCI and I echo everything 'vacaricature carver' said. I'd like to add one more thing we also have folks here who do woodburning. They have a lot of knowledge and if you ever need help with woodburning just post your questions to the 'Pyrography & Woodburning' forum. I have noticed that a lot of carver's utilize woodburning also.

Oops!! Sorry Kathy! I didn't mean to leave out the woodburners!! That is also something that I would like to learn as their work is very beautiful!! I guess I have been focusing on trying to figure out the carving thing first and I forget about all that burning has to offer! Anyway, anyone you find on this site is very helpful in any avenue that you would like to pursue!

Sorry about that!!!!!!

A big LOL vacaricature carver, no 'sorry about that' needed at all. I'm thinking hard on the carving thing too. It's all a big learning process isn't it.
There are some good forums on WCI and so much to learn from all these fine folks.

Welcome, Dylan, it's great to have you with us! I started carving five years ago myself! You'll find this the best place for help and friendship, I certainly always have! Again, Welcome! Deborah
