Talking New guy wondering how to get your wife to let you carve more?

Hi, my name is Jason.i live in Missouri near St. Louis, home of the World Series Champs.I still can't believe that .I work as a shoe last model maker ,I make those out of hard maple.I also make heel models and models of the shoe soles.I got into carving a few years back when the company I work for signed a license deal with Disney. So I decided to make some Disney character wearing Buster Brown shoes.I started with eeyore ,and he came out really good, "what a shocker" and then I did Winnie the Pooh.after that I was hooked.I will post some pics of my workshop at work.I am currently finishing my basement and my workshop at home isn't finished yet.Well gotta go the wife is calling my name . carving and Merry Christmas.

Jason

Don't let a hobby get in the way of a relationship especially if your marriage is young. Your bride will need you obsessing over her and not a block of wood, tools, etc.

Trust me been there ...give it time...like ten years

oh yeah welcome

Welcome, Good question! I did not start to carve until well after I retired. Now when I get into wifes way she says; "why don't you go carve something"..I am sure you'll get an answer from the members of this board..not all are retired, and some have faced and solved the same problem.. Tom H

Hide in the bathroom!
Just make sure you flush when you're done! (the wood chips that is!)

Just ask her if she would prefer you at home makin' wood chips or down at the local tavern drinkin' beer.

Women love money so appeal to her in a special way .

YOU: Honey , if you let me carve more , If I get good enough , I can make the family presents at Christmas .

Her : Yea right , who do you think will want that junk ?

You: Well with just a bit more time , I think I could make some really nice pieces, that would be hand made items for the inlaws , you know my MOM would want one.

Her : Give one to YOUR MOM ? ... OH I LIKE that idea.... snicker

You : And just think of the money we could save .

Her : MONEY ? !

YOU : Sure , you know I bet we could save oh at least 100.00 on family gifts.

Her : $$$$$$$ 100.00 $$$$ REALLY ?

You: Sure hon , and you know that is $100.00 you could use to buy a new dress , or that special perfume you wanted .

Her : WELL WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING ON! .. Get out of here and get busy ! I will make the list ...

Just have to present it correctly
