While your hands are busy with a block of wood, there are lots of husbands whose hands are busy with other women...or gambling....or drinking! I don't see a problem here!

Not knowing your wife, I wouldn't know what to advise you, luckily my wife is very patient and likes my carvings. She gets to have first pick of all my carvings that I do, from there I either sell it or give it to someone as a gift. You might try that, if that doesn't work slip a couple a of benydryl in her tea and while shes napping carve! (Not really!) Just talk to her and hopefully if shes a good woman she'll see that you have a new passion besides her.
Welcome and good luck
Mel

I use to carve something for her, then that got old (I could not get motivated by the bribery!).

Then I found a great technique. I completely destroyed the kitchen table and my big butt ruined 2 chairs. That motivated her to buy me a work bench, rug and space heater for the garage. Like a true man, I played dumb and clumsey to get my way.

I carved her a walking stick as a thank you anyway. ahhhhh...love

Hi Jason,
I love St Louis... one of my favorite places in all the world... and, I absolutely love the Cardinals... my favorite baseball team since I was 6 years old... that's been quite a while. And, a friend of mine used to work at Buster Brown shoes near St. Louis, so you are ringing familiarity to my ears! In regards to your wife.... ask her opinions regarding your carving pieces... then invite her to sit with you and talk while you carve - no woman can turn down "chat time" with her hubby! I hope you will post some of your carvings for us to see. I'm especially interested since I am a shoe carver

you are all on the wrong tact. Try diamonds. She'll be so busy staring at them that she wont notice that you're gone for a few hours or weeks.
