Default New to Group

Hello All, I'm new to carving but have been working with wood for well over 35 years. Mostly as a teacher but also as a custom furniture maker. My wife is an artist and as of late, we have custom molding (basswood) cut to our profile and I have an area that is approximately 1/2" wide to carve in. After carving I use composition gold and gild the frames. I use very small (2-4mm) tools but am wondering if anyone can give me a source of information on how I can perfect my technique in such a small area. Most books, magazines, tutorials, etc. deal with much larger carvings. Thanks for any leads or advice you can give. What I've learned so far is trial and error but am after being able to show more depth and 3D to my carvings of leaves, rope, geometric pattern, and so on.
John

Hi, John, welcome to the forum. For some ideas on carving moldings and so forth, do a search here in the forum for Mark Yundt and read through his posts.
