Default New To The Group

Hi All,

I'm new to the group and have been carving for several years, mainly woodspirits. I'm finally at an age where I can see retirement from my present career and plan to start in a new direction selling my carvings. I'm located on the east coast in NC.

I've attached a pic of my latest log spirit, Jasper. Looking forward to exchanging ideas with everyone.

Craig

Fine looking woodspirit there Craig. I envy you - sure wish I could spend all my time carving but retirement is a ways yet for me. Keep at it so you can suppliment your retirement benefits when that time comes.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Thanks for the welcome Irishman and Feb. Actually, retirement is a ways off for me also, sometimes I just think it feels closer.

Welcome aboard Craig. Nice Wood Spirit you have there, quite a friendly look on his face.

Craig, welcome to the forum and I am jealous of you. I am wanting to retire early and do full time carving but alas I continue to work bringing home a more reliable check!

Again, welcome and I love the wood spirit. Is that hand carved or a chainsaw carving?

Greg

Thanks for the welcome Greg. It's all carved with gouge and mallet due to the size.

I use a chainsaw on larger pieces to rough out, then revert to hand tools.
