I wish to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you. I am a 60 year old Dentist with a peripheral Neuropathy. This means I can not practice Dentistry anymore, but it also means I do not feel knife slashes very well, so all finish work begins with the word BLOOD.

I enjoy working with my hands, and I will continue to do so until I die, but then again maybe that will be sooner rather than later, ( I am insured too well with life insurance).

I also hunt and shoot flint lock rifles, and love to dry fly fish. Cowboy

Welcome aboard Doc! We've all got one ailment or another! Our goal is simple...remain vertical! Happy carving!

Welcome, Doc. I know you're going to fit right in here with us new guys and the old hands. This is about the best quality site for members I have ever seen. The accomplished carvers have a lot of patience (patients?) with the lesser mortals like myself. You'll see some beautiful work here too.

Well, Doc, WELCOME!!
Carving is great therapy--and dentists and plastic surgeons make great carvers cause you're already used to sculpting and reshaping matter. Just get a good carving glove and thumb guard and you're in good shape. Try power carving--it's just like holding a power drill and shaping a new filling. As a matter of fact, some of those little bits and scrapers work very well with power carving.

Stay well and enjoy carving.
