Default New Experience

I am a Scotsman, a retired IT consultant living in Italy and have been practicing woodworking for over 20 years, but never attempted carving. I am a member of FLICKR photo group and display my artifacts there. I have recently developed an interest in Celtic and Islamic design and mentioned my need for a way to represent Calligraphy in wood a contact there JARM13 suggested I try Chip Carving so I have ordered two books from Amazon and seeing your site in Google decided to join. Hello to you all

Hello and welcome.
Chip carving Celtic knotwork looks difficult but is easy and fast
I have a Cross and plates in the gallery for examples.
Lettering is also very doable with chip carving - difficulty depends on the size and the font.

Welcome to the forum. Celtic and Islamic designs can be quite beautiful. You might also try relief carving as a way to show these designs.
