Hello everybody. I am new to this site, and to carving. I have been reading all the posts and viewing the galleries with admiration. I hope that one day I can post some pics of my creations. If mine turn out only half as good as those I have seen so far I will be a happy man. Alan |

Hi Alan, Welcome to the WCI Board and all the fine carvers and woodburners who live here. You are now one of us, so get some wood and make some chips and don't forget to share. As you have probably noticed everyone here is really nice and always ready to lend a hand. What type of carving are you interested in learning?

Hi Kathy I started by carving a santa just before Christmas. I didn't use a pattern and used an old piece of pine and a utility knife. Needless to say that the results were not fantastic, in my opinion. The body was out of proportion to the head, so I cut it down and used the head as a tree decoration. I thought it looked very rough, but I received so many compliments that I just had to try again. The bug has bitten! Alan |
