Default New Carver Sayin' "Hi"

Hey, folks, just wanted to say hi to everyone on this forum. I'm a retired Navy Hospital Corpsman, and am on a second career, this time as a correctional officer. I thought I'd actually get in, for a change, rather than just visiting carving sites. I love everything about wood! I've had no classes or mentors, but have been learning what I can from carving "how to" books. I'm learning by trial and error, so I'm still pretty slow turning out carvings. My areas of interest are anatomical wood sculpture, caricature, western carvings, and "found wood". I've posted two of my carvings today, "The Octagenarian", and "Wedding Hands", both mounted on polished granite bases. Its good to meet you all and see your fine work!

Welcome.
Glad you joined us. Sounds like you've gotten a good start on carving. It's great therapy--and fun, too.
