Carl,

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy making walking sticks. It's something I'd like to do at some point as well. Make sure to check out the stick and cane carving section, use the search function to look up your questions, and feel free to ask if you can't find what you're looking for.

Welcome aboard Carl. Carving is good way to relieve stress. If you have trouble holding your wood due to strokes you may like my method of holding wood down to free up one hand. Look for cottonwood carving 101 on Youtube. Free video for beginning carvers.

Welcome to the WCI Forum Carl! The forum has a great section on stick/cane carving and there are lots of very talented wood carvers here too... As your fellow wood carvers above have already mention, if you have any questions or need any help...post your problem/question and they'll be more than happy to help you out... Enjoy your new hobbie and safe carving to you!
