The Australian Red Cedar has the Latin name of Toona australis, aka Cedrela toona, which is different from cedars found in the Northern Hemisphere - it possible that the cedar you are using is Thuja plicata?

| | Re: New bloke from Blue Mountains, Australia Tony, I am not sure. All my cedar comes from southern Missouri. It is a wonderfull white yellow and deep red mix. Makes for very interesting carvings. It is hard and detail chips easily but I am able to carve it.
