Welcome to our little corner of the web...I can only echo what others have said, your an inspiration to those of us who can only claim laziness or lack of "get 'er done". I too look forward to seeing your work, and don't worry about what impresses you, we are all our own worst critics.

Wow! What a story that you have to tell. Looking forward to your contribution which has already been a lot.

As for carving gloves I've been using a very comfortable kevlar glove made by Rothco which feels more like a cotton glove than one of the thicker and clumbsier kevlar gloves. I run a woodshop/woodcarving program for kids and I order 15 to 20 pair every year or so as part of a mass facility order. At wholesale we get them for $4.95/pair but they can be ordered retail for about double that from many online stores listed at http://www.rothco.com

These gloves are fairly thin but they are so comfortable to wear so I'm much more inclined to put them on while carving. I've also received a pretty nasty cut right through these kevlar gloves but never any that resulted in stitches. No kid in my class has ever received stitches from wearing these gloves and carving is a very BIG part of my program. I figure that the gloves, although thin, most definitely break the force of the knives cut.
