| | Re: need some help Frank, the book "Essential Woodcarving Techniques" by Dick Onians has a secton on carving Pea or Shot molding and another on Egg and Dart moldings. One of these sounds like what you are after. Both of these techniques are done on molding that is then applied to furniture, but it may give you some idea of where you want to go with it.
If you can't locate that particualr book in your local library ro book store, let me know and I'll send you the instructions.

| | Re: need some help Hi Frank not sure if this helps or not, I carve Indian busts and sometimes carve bead necklaces. I mark off the beads with a pencil then use a gouge of the size I want the beads. Turn the gouge upside down and carve toward the pencil line, from both ways. When you get to the line you have to carve down to make it look round. A few rounds of practice and it seems fairly easy. Have fun Harold | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
