Default Looking to rough out - Welsh Corgi

My family seems to think that I'm ready to move beyond whittling chains and balls-in-cages to doing a carving of the family dog.
Anyone know where I can find a rough out that would pass for a Welsh Corgi?

Thank you,

RussL.

Not sure, but for someone who was looking for a pug, someone here suggested using a regular dog and cutting it's nose off,,maybe in this case you could do a similar thing and just cut it's legs off.Sorry,, just had to say it,LOL. Truthfully though I don't know.Just being goofy,

Russ,
You could take a bunch of pictures of your dog, enlarge your favorites to the actual size of the dog, then cut them out and use them for a pattern. I've done that with herons, egrets and pelicans. If the picture is going to be too big for "life-size", you may have to cut in fourths, then enlarge the fourths and tape them back together.
It also might be a good idea to find a figurine of one to study as you carve.
Have fun!
Wade

Wade,

Thank you. That's a good suggestion.

As for cutting the legs off another type of dog rough out, that is not as far fetched as you might think.
A couple of modifications to a German Shepard rough out (shorter legs and a more sausage-like build for starters!) might just turn it into our Corgi! ;-)

Thanks,

RussL.

Hi! If you get any Tasha Tudor books from the library, you'll find corgis, both real life pictures and drawings she's done. She loves them and puts them in most of her drawings.

Hi, Gordon Stiller has a pattern of a Walsh Corgi. If you have a band saw you can make your own rough out. other wise your local school shop may have open time to use there's.
