Default Looking for owl pattern

Hi all, New to this message board stuff. Very interesting have to come back more often. Quest of the day is how to carve and owl. One or my grandchildren,(who get most of my output of carvings) has asked me to carve an owl for her mantle. I guess I'm looking at a 6-10 inch piece. Anybody know of a pattern?

Nothing specific. Any type would do. I'm not yet skilled enough to do museum reproductions so I wont be trying to do a lot of detail feathering.

If you have a search program like Bing, I'd suggest that you do an image search for owls. It will probably give you dozens of ideas. Print out the image (or transfer to a photo editing program) and size it according to your project. It might be interesting to make it a "shelf sitter" - an owl perched on the edge of the shelf. In this form it might be facing away from the viewer with the head turned toward you. In my gallery is a relief owl that is part of a sign.

If you want a shortcut for your first one, Moore Roughouts in North Dakota has several owl roughouts. They have a website.
