I suppose it's time to come out of the shadow of the ole' oak tree, where I've been whitt'lin my time away listening to all the great conversations up here on the hill of the Woodcarving Illustrated Message Board, and say a few words. I was introduced to carving by a senior friend in January, and he invited me to a club meeting. There, he showed me what cottenwood bark was and together, over the next few weeks, me and that piece of bark came to an understanding, with his help, of course. Since that time I have completed several bark houses, and I guess you can tell from my sig what I eventually want to do. I just got Jack Price's DVD on Carving the Compact Character, and now I'm hooked! I also saw the Whittling - Special Issue at my local Lowe's in the magazine section. I'm sorta new to this hobby, and I wanted to take up somethin' that I could do just about anywhere. This issue is nothing short of fantastic to a beginning whittler! I highly recommend both of these if you just got here, like me. Thank you for listening.....

Littlefolk, I just sent my lil fella pics to Jack and got my certificate the other day. He is a wonderful man to talk too. He was a big factor for me wanting to carve wee folk too. Follow his DVD and you will be carving them in no time. Good luck and welcome to the forums! Sean |
