Default A little introduction

Hello My names Dave. And I live in Burry Port South Wales (UK). I have alsways fancied getting into wood carving so I bought myself a cheap set of gouges and a little knife for Christmas.

Well, I have been busy up my shed and here are my first two creations. The first one I did (the wood man) is a bit rough but I was seeing what the tools wood do. I quiet like the tortoise and my youngest boy thinks it is fantastic = which is all that counts to me.

Im sure you will see a few more posts poping up from me from time to time. And I am planning to spend some time looking for tips etc... on this site.

Dave.

Hello Dave,
I have the same disease you do, as well as everyone here... Once you pick up the knife, you can't seem to put it down... Those are excellent first time pieces! Wow! You have the apt to take it to the next level! Welcome to the WCI family! Breakfast is at 8, make up your bed, and don't forget to brush you serrated edge teeth! Drop a line and don't be afraid to ask questions....
Sincerely, Rob Vega (Lazy Carver)
PS... Don't forget to comb your mustache hairs over your blanket at night! I DO!

Not sure what timber I used it was just an off cut of the kiln dried soft wood I bought to make my work bench. Its probably pine or something. It was easy to carve with the grain but it would tear easy across the grain. mind you, my tools aint the sharpest (yet).
