Default Let me re-intorduce myself

Hello everyone. My name is jim stiver and I haven't been on the site in a very long time and I just wanted to take this time and say hello again. I am 55 yrs young and started carving due to health problems (heart problems) and have been forced to retire. I have been into carving for only about a year. I have been trying to teach myself and let me tell you that is no easy task. Iam very excited cause I will be going to a carving round up in Evart Mi. that has many expierenced instructors that will be there for I think about four days and their services are free. I should be able to get some very valuable help there. Then two weeks later there is a woodcarving seminar right here in Cadillac, Mi. where I can sign up for different classes and instruction. A guy name Floyd Radigan (sp) is sending me the info on the Cadillac classes. Maybe some of you guys have heard of him. Anyway Iam finally gonna get the hands on instruction that I need. All the books and such that I have been reading have helped some but there is nothing like having an instructor there to help one out. Well I will try and stay in touch a little more often with you folks and will let you know how the seminars go. Take Care. Jim Stiver

Hi Jim, welcome
Great that you are going to the carving roundup and possible classes with Floyd Radigan. Classes and workshops are super be a sponge and soak up everything they can teach you. Books are great, but there is nothing like hands on instruction from good teachers and mentor's. Are their any carving clubs in your area? That is another sourse of friendship and learning.
Let us know how things go for you at the round up.
Kathy
