Default Let me introduce myself

Just joined this group. I am logged in as ragiarn but my friends call me Doc. I could not log in as Doc since the name is already taken.

My woodworking experience recently has been in doing Intarsia and I belong to various Intarsia groups. Recently my Intarsia has begun to evolve and some have told me that it seems to be more sculpting or carving than Intarsia. My last two projects in fact have evolved into what I call Intarsia 360 and because of this some suggested that I post it on woodcarving website as well.

For those not acquainted with Intarsia it is using different color woods and grains to make a picture. The pieces are generally cut with a scroll saw or band saw and shaped and contoured using mostly sanding techniques. The result is a Bas - relief type work.

Rather than try to describe my work, below are photos.

Welcome Doc,
Glad you could join our message board. Thanks for sharing your carvings with us. I love the way you've embellished your intarsia with carving techniques. In fact, I would say they ARE carvings that use intarsia techniques.

The horses are beautiful. You've got great carving and finishing going for you.
