Where do you get your carving wood? We just moved back to the mainland from Pahoa on the Big Island, and that was a major problem. Ohia, Mango, Koa, and Lychee are beautiful, but a real b---h to carve.

you won't believe my source.....thrift stores , and yard sales. I do most have my carvings in old rollingpins my wife finds for me. I tried the local woods with the same results. I started a nice carving in Mango and broke out in a nasty rash ! I do like to use local Avacado , I'm always asking when people are trimming their trees. I go to the Big Island once a week for work on the Kona side. Let me know if you get any cravings for the ono food I'll send you some........
