Default Just starting out

I'm never sure what I should say to introduce myself.

First, at the age of 57 I bought another cane for my cane/walking stick/staff collection and almost on a whim decided to do some carving on it. Now, after carving a star near the top, I figure I'd better get some information about how to do it right.

I'd like to try a traditionald Celtic knott pattern under the star, then decide where to go from there.

Welcome!
At 57 I'm just figuring it out too! Though I've carved off and on for years.
I've never carved celtic patterns, but lots of Folks on here have and I'm sure you'll hear from them.
I'd suggest also, go to the "search" bar and type in celtic, I'm sure a lot will pop up. You could do a google search on it too. There are some great books out there on celtic patterns and carving them.
Good luck! Have fun! Be safe, wear a glove!

Malumregnat.... Wow! That's a mouthful! Welcome to the forum. You buying all those canes and walking sticks in your collection or did you make them? If you bought them then I'm sure that you'll be making them soon. It's habit forming!
