Default just saying hello

Well I guess its time to say hello. I just joined the other day. I have been carving for a while but just found this site a few days ago. Lots of great pictures and info. Hope Ill be talking with some of you soon.

We would like to hear what your carving preference is at this time. Quite a diverse group on this board, and I wish I had the time to try all the different styles and techniques being shown by the members. Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. Irishman, I am into carving a snowman scene right now for my wife for Christmas.I am mainly carving small now, I did carve what I call big [1 foot or so] but as I do all my carving manually it got too much on back and shoulders sitting in my chair working.I cant get myself to sit at a bench. I guess I would say I am a folk carver , I dont go for the realism just the cute or fun factor. About a year after I started carving I saw a Ron Ransom book and was glad to see some people still carved like that. Gonna post some pics soon.
