Default Just to say Hey.

Hey all;
I just found this sight and I'm looking forward to meeting other carvers and whittlers. I have been carveing for about twelve years and have had no formal classes. Only recently have I delved into the world of carvers and started to draw on the resources available. (Why didn't I do it sooner?)
I recently joined the Lexington Carvers Guild here in Lexington KY. With there help my confidence has increased enough to display my work and attempt to sell some of it. I now have a piece of work in the Berea Artisan center ( Berea KY.) and will be entering a few pieces into the KY State Fair competition.
I am always open to any type of criticisms, be it negative or positive, so if you look at my work and wish to comment on it please feel free to say what you like. Just keep in mind, I always retain the option to use it or lose it. But I will always listen to it.
So for now I'll say, see ya under the tree and bring your knife we got kindlin ta make.
Ray

Hello and welcome, your carving in your Avatar looks nice. Good luck, with the KY SFC too. How about showing us some of your carvings when you are ready.

Hi Ray and welcome. You're not alone. Sometimes we just don't know what we don't know. I just found this message board recently too and wonder how I got along without it.

God luck with your carving and look forward to your photos.

Some about my carving interests;
Mostly right now my carvings are characters in the round, relief carving, canes and staffs. I am looking to expand my interests into animals, flora, birds and fish. Is that too much do you think?
You can view some of my carvings at this link:

Do feel free to leave a comment, good or bad.. Ray
