Hello everyone, ![]() I joined the forum today, on the recommendation of Ron Takahashi. Thank you Ron. :~) I thought I would write a quick note to introduce myself. My name is Steve, and I reside in the UK. I am a complete beginner when it comes to engraving, having left it rather late in life to begin as I'm 54. I will be starting my first piece this weekend, when the high speed pneumatic carver (Turbo Carver) I ordered from the States is scheduled to be delivered. I currently have a Dremel Stylus, which is quite nice, and plan on purchasing hand tools such as chisels, files, gouges and such for the heavier side of the work. The Turbo Carver will be used for detail work. I have no plans to go commercial with my work, preferring to keep things at the hobby level. I'm so glad I found this forum. I've been reading through previous posts, and see you are all masters of the craft. I am so looking forward to learning from all of you. Regards, Steve H |

Welcome Steve. Hey, 54 is not rather late in life! I started learning to carve when I was 65. I wish I had started when I was 54. And yes, I think there are some master carvers that participate in the forum. But most I believe are just hobby carvers that wish to keep on learning. At least that describes me. I think You'll find this group to be very friendly and willing to share any information and experiences that they have. Again, welcome. Tom H |
