Hi, as for finding out about shows, wood carving clubs is a good way. Look for them in your area where you'll be. Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine Free Issue Offer - Wood Carving Illustrated lists carving shows and clubs. Chip Chats magazine lists shows also--I believe you will need a membership ($14. yearly) which entitles you to a quartly magazine www.chipchats.org
There are carvers on this site who live in Florida who you can contact by Private Message. Or if you see a post by someone from Florida just ask them. Folks here are some of the most kind and helpful people.
Kathy

Hello Karl,
My parents used to spend winters in Florida and I found several shows in January. Fort Myers is Jan 12-13 and info can be found at www.swfloridawoodcarvingsexpo.com

Then there's one on Jan 19 at Port Charlotte but all I see is a phone number 941-575-4206 and one at Seminole on Jan 19-20 with contact jroush2@mac.com. Port Orange is Jan 26, Melbourne is Jan 28, Fort Myers again on Feb 2, Jensen Beach on Feb 2-3, Tampa on Feb 7-18 at the State Fair, Arcadia on Feb 16, Hudson on March 1-2, Sarasota on March 8-9 and Tavares on the same March 8-9. IF you want more specific contact info on these other shows, pm me and I'll dig it out and send it to you.

So, you can just about go to a show every weekend while we're freezing up here in the midwest . If their shows are like ours, there's usually vendors there selling our tools and supplies.

Welcome aboard Karl. Perhaps you might try cutting paint and making a wash for color. Your grain and detail shows through.
