Hello, I'm new to wood carving and wish to know what is the best way to start. I loved the Santa Clauses. I'm also new to online chat. I would appreciate any help!

Hi Jim, amd welcome. You will find your replies right here. I think a person needs to figure out what type of carving they want to start with. Then one can recommend books, tools, etc.
You will get all the help you need around here. Hopefully there will be a club close by you where you could receive some hands on training. Woodcarvers are a generous bunch and you can get lots of help.

Welcome Jim--I don't know much about doing Santas, but there's plenty of people here who do. Welcome anyway! Have fun!

Welcome aboard Jim. (No not everyone's name is Bob here, it just looks that way!) Read up on some of the many topics and threads here in the archives of messages on the board and I'm sure you'll find lots of interesting and useful stuff for inspiration.
