Default Introduction

Hello I've been lurking for awhile, decided to join in the fun. My husband & I are located in Missouri where we keep house for our three dogs. Always being interested in crafts of some sort, I decided to look into woodcarving as an outlet for everyone's friend - stress. I am looking forward to all I can learn from the extensive experience & friendly discussion I've seen so far on this forum. Also had a question. I've ordered my tools from Little Shavers but where can I find the basswood?
Thanks.

Welcome aboard!

Not really sure that carving can always be an outlet for stress.......for some it only increases it!

Look around in the Wood and Material section, there should be many threads about sources for wood. Or try your hand at searching for it using the search tool. I'm sure someone will offer more information later, but it may help you learn to get around the site a bit (for later "needs").

Where are you located in MO? If you're close to Springfield I can direct you to a couple of places that sell it.

Welcome the the board also. Lots of good info here if you need it. Just ask.

Only close to Springfield when we vacation in Branson!

It would be great if you could send the company names &/or websites if you have time. Appreciate it.

Welcome to our group.
I'm in MO and have my wood shipped in from Wisc. Dale Heinecke www.heineckewood.com

Dale Heinecke will have a load of wood in Branson at the Silver Dollar carving round-up in March.

Welcome aboard, and don't believe everything you hear....carving "is" the most relaxing hobby you'll find. It gets you concentrating so you forget all about the other things around you, and you focus on the wonderful feeling of a sharp tool through wood.

Take your time, and enjoy yourself. Carving is great therapy for any number of woes!!!
