Default Introduction

Well I guess it's time to introduce myself since I've started posting and created an album. And since I,ve been watching and reading for quite awhile.

My name is Tina, aka Teeburn. I'm basically more a pyrographer at the moment but I have a passion for all things wood. Don't know why I have always liked the medium. There is so much you can do with it and it is so beautiful and earthy.

I'm inspiring to grow up to be what I call a relief burner. I love the two art forms together. The wood burning and the relief carving are a perfect match to me. Since I had some experience with wood burning I thought I would tackle that first and when I came at least a little proficient in it I would try and tackle the relief carving. Because I had no experience in carving I knew that would take more time and would be harder at first.

I was introduced to pyrography when I was a child by my dad and the girl scouts. We raised horses and we used wood burning to make stall and tack signs and stuff like that. And then of course in girl scouts it's one of the crafts you were introduce to for your badges. So I have very early and fond memories of wood burning. When I smell the wood smoke today it still makes me think of my dad and my childhood.

Then my grandpa use to have us sit on the porch swing when we came to visit and he would whittle when we sat and talked. So now that I have seen this in writing obviously that is where my passion for wood has come from. Daahh!

I just started my biggest burning project and my first relief carving this summer. It was a summer challenge from one of my fellow burners and friend from another site. It's turned into a summer/fall project though. It is my first relief burn. It was suppose to be just a shallow relief but it turned into a deep relief. I'm finally at the burning stage so it shouldn't take to long now. But I really have enjoyed it so there will definitely be more in the future as soon as I learn more about relief carving. I will post a pic when I am finished.

Well now that I have written an introduction that could probably rival War and Peace you probably know more about me than you wanted and didn,t ask for and have probably fallen asleep at your computer! Sorry!!! Another thing you have learned about me I can be very windy when it comes to writing, which is funny cause I'm not that way in person when talking.

Again sorry and . Hopefully your new friend.

Blessings,
Tina

Welcome Tina. I'm not necessarily a wood burner but I do burn the pupils in my carvings....but it is still wood. Show us your work sometime.
