Smile Introduction

Hi from Nelson New Zealand. I carve mainly in the European tradition, but have also done some in the Maori style. Am here to learn, there is always more. Hope to join in the forum when I have something to contribute. John.

Welcome to the group John. You'll find lots of info here. Spent a short time in Wellington working at the Embassy there back in '93. Sure miss the liquid lunches down at the local pub and the lamb from the meat market.

Welcome aboard, look forward to learning about your carving styles. My main style is Laude-How-come. Serves me well.

Greetings and Salutations John.... My step Mom just returned from two weeks in your Paradise. She's says it's really beautiful although being a vegetarian I'd have a bit of a problem with the mutton!

Hi Eddy. You can solve that problem very simply. You ask for green lipped mussels, or oysters, or scollops, or crayfish, or gurnard, or snapper and wash it down with a chardonnay or pinot noir. The sheep can bleat for someone else.. The cheese plate can be entising too.. John.

Cypress knees are very unique. They are a soft wood and they grow in a cone shape out of the ground. They only grow in wet swampy areas usually in the south although I have seen them as far north as Missouri. I will try to attach a sample picture below:
