Default Introduction

Hello everyone

Just wanted to stop by and finally drop out of lurker mode ;-). Been reading this board alot for the past few weeks and sure enough I have become really interested in carving.

Got my starter kit Monday from Little Shavers and a small block of basswood from woodcraft. I do have to say I have really enjoyed flinging woodchips and watching something start to appear. Now I have to admit that this is the first time that I have attempted to carve anything, so I am really looking forward to seeing what the final result of this first project will come out like. When I finish I will put up some photos and hopefully get some criticism to get better.

My main interest is in carving in the round, and the primary thing that inspires what I want to do is the Circle of Love figures by Kim Lawrence. Personally I don’t see myself getting much interest in relief carving.

Well that’s about it for now, I look forward to becoming more active in the forums.

Welcome, at some point we all stop lurking and start being a part of this wonderful WCI message board. Please share your carvings with us when you feel comfortable. We were all newby's at one time--come to think of it I still am (carving 1 year). Everyone here is very helpful as you have seen. So will look forward to seeing your new carving.
Kathy
