| | Intro message from Gaspé, Qc ![006[1]](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/006[1].gif) Hi everyone, my name is Eric from Gaspé, Qc. (40 years semi-old French Canadian...) I'm new to the art of carving: 2 unfinished pieces of art for the woodstove and one, not so close to the pattern from Mike Shipley's Barry the Bear (you must saw the edges of the pant close to the feet...I'm not in competition with the Bear paws's cookies for sure...)but lot of pleasure and a very good stress evacuator technique. I would like to thanks a WCI member, name Don by the lake for introduce me to this community, and like you probably had remark, english was not my 1st language then hope never hurt anybody by mistake when I will blog with you, then just for showing you that I'm not a vanity guy, I make you the honnor (or horror...) to show you my 1st caricature carving of all time, and the term caricature is really not exagerated...Have fun
Éric

| | Re: Intro message from Gaspé, Qc Welcome aboard Eric, you will like this site so much, that eventually it will become an addiction. I have the the same book and have carved all the bears including the hound dog. Soon as I get time (as if I didn't have time) I will get my son to come over and teach me how to download my carvings . Tell you what my first bear carving looked like a weasle with a large head and for your first carving it's great. Now! tell us the truth how intended bear carvings hit the woodstove before this one, just kidding. Oscar |

| | Re: Intro message from Gaspé, Qc Hello Eric,
That's a really great first carving. I dn't know about others out there, but I wish my first carving looked that good.
As for your English, I wish I could speak a second language enough to be understood. My wife speaks three. |
