| | Hi From Illinois I'm new to the board and relatively new to carving. I was inspired to try mini wood spirits by the article in last month's magazine called "5 minute Wood Spirits. I have had a lot of fun with my first spirits. Looking forward to learning and growing with all of you.

| | Re: Hi From Illinois Hello and welcome, several of us here on the Boards have also carved TomH's Wizards. I personally think they are a terrific carving for new carver right on thru Advanced. Great club project too!

The work I've looked at is humbling. I hope to get there sometime too.
I think I need to work on getting more nose and eye depth and detail.
I think I'll try some larger pieces and see what I can do. What is your favorite "found" wood to work on? I'd like to try some bark or found wood carving. Are there any particularly good DVD's you comee across for woodspirit or mountainman face carving?
Oh, I'm in central Illinois, near Lake Shelbyville.
