Hi Al, I have always loved it up there, even when I was in National Gaurd and was in Grayling for 2 weeks during summer training. I almost went to work at the MATES Center in Grayling some 30 yrs ago right out basic &Ait training, But the Col. wanted me to be there on monday to go to work but Iwasnt getting released til Sunday afternoon from FT KNox. bout an 8 hour drive back to Mich, then another 4-5 hr back to Grayling. But eveytime Iam up in the area it takes me almost a year to get it out my head as I got to know the area very well, and had hoped someday I would move the family up there but, never happened, try to get wife to consider it but she dont want anymore of the cold than we get down here lol. Did you ever know a guy by name of Wayne Worm he worked at Cadillac armory full time, he retired now. About only time I get up that way is when Eagles club has annual bowling tourney Eagles State Mens tourney. Next yr we are in Lansing, and following yr in Coldwater near me. Nice to meet you and I'll keep in touch. Bob

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the welcome and support. I have finally ordered a block of basswood 4X6X12", I'm kind of overwhelmed over all the possible choices for subject matter. It needs to be something in the beginner ranks though. I know that this isn't probably considered beginner level, but, I've always really liked the Scandinavian style of cuts. What I really would like to tackle is a Native American Head, but cut in the Scandinavian style (and with realistic characature perportions). Love those cuts.

Well friends, if you have any suggestions I'd be real thankful!

BEST!!

Al
