Hi I just wanted to find a couple of sites where i could see what other people are carving out there. I have been carving for over 20 years and had stopped carving about three years ago. I started reading some carving magazines and this web site and now i think I am ready to carve something again. I have carved a few interesting projects like the scenery panel for the Empire State Carousel which is a full working carousel housed at the farmers Museum in Cooperstown NY. You know the home town of the baseball hall of fame. I live about an hour or so from the museum. You can visit my blog if you want to see some of my work. Here is a link: Jim McAndrew's Woodland Carvings Hope everyone is having a good day and Happy Holidays to you all. |

Welcome, Jim; we're glad you're found your way here. The owl shown on your website is georgeous! Tell us what towns you are near and perhaps one of us will be able to identify carving clubs. You can go to the club search on the left side of this website, under Carving community, and see if there is a club listed. Or you can go to the Colwood website where clubs are also listed at: Woodburning Tools by Colwood: Carving Clubs Hope that helps. Donna T

Welcome Jim, I had the good fortune to be given a tour of the carousel when it was one week from opening day on Long Island. Every piece of it was a hand carved work of art. They cranked up the music for my grandkids and and it brought me back to their ages. A few members of my carving club were involved in the project. Glad it finally found a good home. Bill K. |

Hey Jim, Glad to see your work on the message board. That owl on your blog is great, Ilm looking forward to seeing more of your work. Looks like carving runs in the family...what caused your hiatus? |

Carousel carvings are great. The local club I belong to meets at the Herschel Carousel Museum in North Tonawanda NY. They were the largest Carousel manufacturer in the world in the early 1900's.

Great job on your snowy owl. Nice work on the facial mask, with such nice soft texturing. Like Jbarr, I too was wondering why you quit carving for three years. Mike |
