Default Hi

I'm Miki and have been carving on and off since I was about 6. I recently retired and am getting back into carving on a more regular basis. I'm looking forward to getting lots of ideas and tips and also sharing whatever I can. I like going to carving shows and hopefully can meet some of you who also attend. You will spot me as the man under a cowboy hat (usually black).
Regards,
Miki

Well Miki, yer in the right place for sure. Theres a whole lot of old retired (not retarded) old birds on here, I'm probably one of the oldest (and dumbest of them all) but hey, I've been on here about six months and I'm havin a ball, I still can't carve worth a damn, but like I said, I'm havin fun. great bunch of people on here and all willing to help when needed. Welcome to the group, hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I have.

Kathy asked what kind of carving I do. I'm mostly doing charicatures, gnomes, santas, animals, cowboys, etc. I have done some chip carving, relief carving, and just to keep from being bored I carve chains with ball-in-cage. And when the creative mind will not wake up, I carve a single toothpick from a 2 x 4. I did 3 of the carvings on the ship Kalmar Nyckle. The Kalmar Nickle is a replica of the 1630's ship that brought the first Swedish settlers to Wilmington, De. The ship was launched in 1998 and sails up and down the east coast from spring to fall.
