Welcome to the forum. Sitting inside watching the snow and carving sounds like a great way to spend winter.

Hi Steve and welcome I see you are from gods country. Although I live here in Ontario I would much rather live on the island. Grandchildren keep me here but every year I make the treck to Willow Point in Campbell River for the Shoreline Arts Competition. Do you ever go see it your just down the beach a ways. Qualicum Beach and Qualicum Falls are one of the most beautiful spots I have been. You will love this forum lots of nice people aways willing to help out. Look forward to seeing your work. Colin

Hi Steve, and welcome aboard. I'm sitting here laughing at you shoveling 3 feet of snow. I took my basic navy training in Victoria 1948 and snow was never even heard of, we were all in the showers one night and the fire alarm went off, we ran outside, nude and dripping wet and it was snowing so we had snowball fights and had a great old time, the snow was gone the next morning. A little different story here in Ontario but we're used to it. I enjoyed your work, hope you enjoy the forum. Cliff (now an old man) |

Hi again folks, Yes I am enjoying this forum very much. As I said earlier, I just started chip carving and am in the process of gathering tools and supplies. We were in Vancouver for Christmas with our children and grandaughter. We got to their place Wednesday after noon and parked the car in about a foot of snow on a sidestreet. Since then a foot and a half of snow and some rain fell. So this morning we dug our selves out and came home to our snow. The temperature is about +6C. The snow settled to about 2 feet but will probably be mostly gone by the end of next week. Colin, I will look into the competition you mentioned amd will get back to you on that. Steve |
