Default Hello from NJ

Hi everyone. My name is Mike. At age 52 I decided I needed a new hobby.

My wife and I take walks in the woods and whenever I found a nice looking walking stick I would bring it home. This past summer my wife went to a craft show and told me about a lady who was carving faces on her walking sticks and she thought it was pretty neat. So I decided I would give a try.

My first attempt I carved vines growing up the stick. Someone at work offered me $25 for it. So I figure I made $1 an hour for my carving. lol

Encouraged by this I just finished my second stick. I have posted pictures in the Sticks and Canes forum.

These forums have been immensly helpful. Thanks to everyone.

Mike R.

They would be more than a little on the far away side for me. I'm way down south in Bridgeton near the Delaware bay.

Hi Mike - you live in the place I want to visit more than any other place in the world -- south NJ!!
The very best bird carvers live there and just across in PA. What a place to live.
You're a lucky man.
Welcome to WoodCarving ......
