Hi, everyone. I live 45 minutes north of Grand Rapids and 20 minutes north east of the muskegon river. My name is Anna and I just started to learn carving. I went on a hike with my sons a few days ago and decided to carve a walking stick. I just learned how to sharpen my swiss army knife and am venturing from there. I look forward to learning and attempting more in carving. ~Anna |

Hi again Anna, I'm glad to see that you're going to try a stick. When I first started, all I did was debark and sand them. I thought then that was so cool. Then, a friend of my wife's went camping with us and picked up one of my sticks and a knife and started to carve, well actually cut, into the stick. She made some designs which I thought was nice. She asked me to try and I said I didn't know how. Really, when someone says that, all that means is they don't have an image in mind. I mean I could have just carved my name in it, right? Anyway, when you're done with your first stick you'll enjoy yours more. Good luck.
