Default Hello fellow carvers

I just discovered this site while searching for info on a carving related subject and wow!! what a lot of info. Where I live there are NO carvers to be had so it is so nice to be able to connect with other carvers.I get all my supplies from the internet, but I get most of my wood from the person who taught me to carve in the first place, Sandi Zickhur-Jacobson.I've been carving for about ten years but just this year discovered so many other styles of folk art carving. I do mostly Santa's but am starting to spread my wings and have carved a few of Shawn Cipa's angels, love them so much.I know I will be spending a lot of time reading posts here, there is such a wealth of knowledge to draw from.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome.I live in the Okanagan Valley (Wine Country) in British Columbia, Canada. About 20 minutes north of Oroville Washington State.I just finished watching a DVD called Beginning Woodcarving and learned several thing that will prove helpful. I have trouble sharpening my tools so think I will have to get the other video too. It just shows that no matter how smart you may think you are, there is always someone who knows more!!! lol
